From Montségur to Berga, in Spain, from the northern foothills of the Pyrenees to the sun-soaked Spanish slopes, from the Gorges de la Frau ravine to the Sierra de Cadi with its tormented limestone geology, this trek offers a large variety of magnificent scenery for the eye to feast upon. You will discover the ruins of the Cathar castles perched upon high inaccessible rocky outcrops. The area is also rich in churches, chapels and hermitages brimming with roman art and architecture.

SAlong the trails of the Cathar Country, our itinerary takes us from the Cathar castle of Roquefixade, with its poetic beauty, to the castle of Puivert where minstrels played, via the tragic ruins of the castle of Montségur. Our route takes us through a number of sites of heritage and great natural beauty: the Gorges de la Frau, the Pas de l’Ours and the Maison des Ombres.

SPRING INTO SPRINTIME
TERRES CATHARES
First ride of the season. With the distant peaks of the Pyrenees still covered in snow, Spring is creeping over the northern foothills. The horses know Spring is on its way and the long hard Winter at an end. The air is fresh and the season full of promise. Our route takes us across moors and forests to the Cathar castle of Puivert and onto the medieval village of Chalabre on the border between the Ariège and the Aude.

LAND OF HISTORY AND LEGEND
CHEVAUCHÉE CATHARE
Plunge into history – the Middle Ages, the Crusades, a period of history when fortress citadels were built on inaccessible rocky outcrops. From the Pays d’Olmes we reach the Quercorb after first crossing the high plateaux of the Pays de Sault, passing via the Cathar fortress castles of Montségur and Puivert.
