The gîte is at 700m elevation, 2 km from the village of Massat in a verdant setting. It can be the point of departure for numerous excursions into the mountains, including the etang de Lers, a high altitude lake where you can picnic and fish in the summer, go cross-country skiing in the winter and enjoy walks all year round. Massat has a weekly traditional market and shops and services essential to a pleasant holiday: grocery, butcher, bakery, organic food store, garage, post office, doctor, pharmacy, etc. The principal market town, St Girons 25 km away, offers the complement of activities: banks, pool, shops, etc. The owner, who lives on site, runs a horseriding centre in Massat offering riding lessons and horseriding outings and treks.
