Polaris Challenge France 2007

Last year we had a gastronomic Jazz fest Challenge that worked extremely well and was enjoyed by all. We even had more French teams than English teams which was deemed a great success. For this reason, we are running the 2007 Polaris Challenge on the first weekend of November, 3/4th November. Jeremy Atkinson has agreed to return to set the course which means that weather permitting; we should have an event up to the usual standard.

There are limited beds for hire around the area and these will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Note that these are beds and not rooms, so you could find yourselves sharing a room with someone you do not know.

There is also camping available on site. Food and drink will be available on site for purchase.

On Saturday night there will be a festival dinner, which proved an immense success last year, with at least 3 courses and wine, not forgetting "l'eau de mort" and apéritifs included in the price. This is not to be missed and this again will be on a first come, first served basis, as the numbers are limited.

All prices are as follows

Entry fee per team of 2 people 100 €
Bed and breakfast 25 € per person per night
Festival banquet 20 € per person
Camping Gratuities
Airport pickup and return 25 € per person each way

Planes from Gatwick-Toulouse: Easyjet ; Birmingham-Toulouse: BMI Baby ; Stansted-Carcassonne: Ryanair
There will be a pickup from Toulouse on Friday, 3rd November and a return to the airports on Sunday evening 5th and Monday morning 6th. These must be booked in advance.

Remember, the riding in the Ariège is superb as most of the course is off road, and the views are stunning. The weather here in November is warm and sunny after 9:00 in the morning when the sun has had a chance to get out, and even the rain is warm as was commented on last year's challenge.

The first prize for the winning team is a family week at Petit Paradis, Saturday to Saturday, with a great assortment of other goodies on offer for the runners up.

For all of you wishing to take part in this years event, I would ask you if possible, to book early as this helps with all arrangements not least the banquet, which believe me takes a great deal of preparation.

Remember, the earlier you book, the cheaper the flights

For those of you who came last year, we will make sure the riding is as good, and for those of you coming for the first time, you are invited to read the comments from the forum pages at www.polarischallenge.co.uk.

We look forward to seeing you here.
