Pinsou is a hamlet at the end of a narrow, winding road 10 minutes from the village of Aleu, in the high Couserans. This small gîte is in the extension of a stone-built mountain house that was recently restored by the owners, who live there year round.
At 800 metres and with superb views of Mt. Valier, Pinsou is surrounded by pastures, woods and mountains. Here you’ll be able to enjoy the sound of birdsong, crickets and cicadas in summer, and sometimes see deer, foxes, badgers and birds of prey.
This small studio-gîte is well-suited for a couple with a baby or 1 or 2 young children. The owners' three daughters (ages 10, 13 and 15 andbi-lingual in French and English) enjoy playing with guests' children. The large, gently-sloping garden with slides and swings is also at your disposal. Baby equipment is available upon request.
Conveniences : The nearest local restaurants are no more than 10-15 minutes away. The village of Seix (20 min. by car) has doctors, pharmacies, P.O., cash points, cafés, shops. The nearest large supermarket is in St Girons (30 min. from Pinsou by car).
John and Sandrine are happy to offer any advice you may need regarding activities, places of interest, and local information. Details about activities are at the end of this page.
Also available on the property is a little renovated barn that can accommodate 2 to 6 people + a baby. For more information, visit our site : www.gitepinsou.com. |
With its wooden floors and ceilings and walls of stone and lime, the studio captures the atmosphere of the traditional Pyrenean mountain dwelling. It is airy, light-filled, comfortable and functional. It has a separate entrance whose double doors open out on a wooden decked terrace of 30m2 where there is a table, chairs, parasol, barbeque -- and those views of the mountains.
The 22m2 ground floor has a double sofa-bed, dining table, kitchen corner (with fridge, two electric rings, mini-oven, microwave oven, sink, electric kettle and toaster) and an en-suite shower and toilet. The mezzanine (approx. 8 m2) has a double bed, TV and room for another bed or cot.
