4 rooms

Nestled in the foothills of the picturesque Ariege-Pyrenees, this quiet haven is south of Toulouse and close to Andorra. The airports of Toulouse & Carcassonne are just an hour’s drive away. This former ancient mill house is situated in the Douctouyre valley overlooked by the mountain range of the Plantaurel. Ideally placed for sightseeing and activities, it is central to four main towns of the Ariege : Foix, Pamiers, Lavelanet and Mirepoix.

Escape the stress of modern living

Our sunny terrace and shaded gardens provide the perfect haven to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of this picturesque countryside. There is time to enjoy the sound of birds or the nearby brook, to paint, to write or just to contemplate. We invite you to join us for breakfast and evening meals, where you can make new friends and hear all about the local places of interest to visit during your stay.

A vast choice of activities

The French have an expression …“le bonheur de faire” – “the pleasure of doing.” Whether your pleasure is walking, horse riding, skiing, cycling, canoeing, painting or just relaxing in beautiful and tranquil surroundings, a stay at La Maison De Roquefort is sure to deliver.

Summer or winter, there is always plenty of choice for the energetic amongst you. Walking and cycling are two of the main activities in the Ariege; however we can arrange a host of alternatives including canoeing, skiing, pony trekking or horse riding, tennis, sailing (Lac Montbel is 20 minutes away), climbing, abseiling, parapenting and gliding, mountain train rides, golf, karting and 4x4 Tag Along Tours.

Within 20 minutes drive you will find many highly recommended beauty spots, including the waterfalls at Roquefort les Cascades, Lac Montbel, the ancient town of Mirepoix and two magnificent Cathar monuments – Montsegur and Roquefixade.

Daily local town and village markets offer an opportunity to while away a morning browsing the stalls of local produce and with village and town fetes running throughout the season there is always somewhere to go for an entertaining evening of music, dining and performances.

A warm welcome at La Maison de Roquefort

We offer a friendly informal atmosphere and a high standard of non-smoking accommodation. The entire house was refurbished early 2007. The rooms are light and airy and all enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding hills and woodland.

Breakfast and evening meals are often served on the south-facing terrace, whilst the cooler lounge provides respite during the hot summer days and a crackling log fire in the winter months.

There are four spacious bedrooms - available as double or twin rooms. One is en suite and all rooms are furnished to a high standard.

The first floor bathroom has a large walk-in shower with toilet and washbasin. There is a separate toilet on the ground floor.

Evening meals are served nightly for guests of La Maison De Roquefort. A set four-course meal costs 20 euros per person and includes a carafe of wine. Vegetarian food is also available, though 24 hours notice is required.
