The hamlet of Les Mijanes is situated at 650 m altitude in a clearing at the end of a little road within sight of the ruins of the Cathar fortress chateau of Montségur.

We invite you to come for a stay in this quiet, verdant site in a beautiful, unspoiled environment.

The house is a former farmstead built of local stone and restored to retain its original character.

The old hay barn is completely open on the south side, with a large (60 m2), light-filled day room on the ground floor with a covered mezzanine and a fireplace.

There are numerous points of interest in the surrounding area:
The Montségur château is visible on the horizon
The gorges de Frau, the summits of the Tabe massif (the peak of St Bartholomew is 2350 m high)
The ski station of Les Monts d'Olmes is 30 minutes away
The Montbel lake; the lake and château of Puivert
The bastide town of Mirepoix and the village of Camon
The prehistoric caves near Tarascon
The Cathar châteaux of the Aude
Andorra (Pas de la Case) is 1 hour away.

We offer 2 spacious, prettily decorated bedrooms just off the day room.
- One bedroom for 2 persons, La ruche, with 2 single beds and en suite bathroom
- One bedroom for 3 persons, Montségur (the hill the chateau sits atop is framed in the window like a picture) with 1 double bed and one single bed and en suite bathroom.

In 2005 we obtained the label "Art de vivre" from Gîtes de France by virtue of the quality of the renovation and the preservation of the character of the house.

Two hectars of meadowland surround the house, and the forest bordering them provides superb walks along a network of well-marked trails that has been created throughout the Pays d'Olmes.

Here you'll be able to savour the splendour of the seasons: the flowering trees in spring and the autumn colours, the sun setting over Montségur at the two equinoxes.

Access: from Lavelanet take the D117 toward Quillan and Perpignan. After 8 kms, at Bélesta, turn right onto the D5 toward Fougax and Montségur. After 3 kms, after the "fontaine de Fontestorbes", take the first road on the left. Go up for 1.5 kms to Mijanes.
