Located at the foot of the snow-capped peaks of the wild and beautiful high Couserans region of the Pyrenees, the spa town of Aulus-les-Bains is the point of departure for many day walks, with the promise of a relaxing soak in the thermal springs at the end of the day.

The hotel Les Oussaillès offers all modern comforts in a beautifully renovated stone residence full of character. The cheerful proprietors, Gaëlle and Jean-François Charrue, are warmly welcoming and always ready to help you organise your excursions. The bright and airy rooms are each equipped with private WC and bathroom with shower or tub, telephone, TV and electric radiators. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of the village, with a view of the mountains from its sunny terraces. The restaurant serves delicious regional cuisine, lovingly prepared by Jean-François.

 

From Aulus-les-Bains you can hike to the magnificent Ars waterfall, or any of the several "etangs" (mountain lakes). Other activities in the immediate vicinity include mountain biking, horseriding, tennis,and flyfishing. The ski station Guzet-Neige is just 5 minutes away. "Les oussaillès" is the patois word for the men from this valley who used to travel with trained performing bears, some as far as North America, in the late 19th and early 20th century. This hotel is an appropriate base for discovering this village's unique history.
