Sleeps 4

Le Petit Chapeau is a recently renovated, 2 bedroom house perched on a south-facing slope in a pretty, traditional village at 750 m altitude, well away from any major roads. Located at the end of a narrow road that meanders through forested slopes, with a permanent population of only 12 people, Sahuc feels lost in the mountains yet Foix is only 12 kms away on the "route verte".

The house has a 120 m2 very private, fenced and gated garden planted with flowers and shrubs. It is on two levels and enjoys a splendid view of the mountains. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. Pets are welcome (with prior consent) but please bear in mind there are many village cats, dogs and farm animals close by.

We now offer wireless internet access.

From Sahuc you can drive to many major tourist sites within 30 minutes and there are plenty of varied walks through the spectacular countryside of the Pays de Foix.

The gîte comprises:

Ground floor: A comfortably furnished lounge with exposed beams, a woodburning stove, TV, DVD and a door and window onto the garden. The dining area is well equipped with a good sized table and sturdy chairs. From here there are four steps down into the kitchen, which has a window to the garden. In the kitchen there is a fridge freezer, an electric oven with a gas hob, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a dishwasher. a breakfast table and four stools and another woodburning stove. The utility area, with a washing machine, iron and ironing board and a very handy downstairs toilet and washbasin, is accessed from both the kitchen and the garden.

The garden with view of the mountainsFirst floor: Two large bedrooms of around 20 m2, both with 2 single beds which can be joined if preferred and a newly installed bathroom with toilet, washbasin and hydromassage shower. All rooms have lovely views.

There are no shops in Sahuc, but you can buy all the food you are likely to need in and around Foix .(which you pass through on most of your excursions). There are also plenty of restaurants in Foix and environs. If you are likely to arrive later than 7pm, when the shops are shut, you can order from the owners, who offer B&B accommodations in Foix, a starter pack for your first breakfast.

If your ideal is to relax at your own pace in an unspoilt village with pure air, plenty of sunshine, breathtaking views and birdsong all day, this is the place to stay.
