These two gîtes (available all year) are on an organic farm at the end of a small mountain road at 860 m elevation. Surrounded by woods and fields, Le Paquetayre enjoys an impressive view of the famous Cathar chateau of Montségur atop its lonely "pog".
Children will delight in the farm animals: a flock of about 100 sheep, a mare and a donkey, chickens and ducks. Passionate travellers, your hosts can also tell you about their voyages in Mauritania, Mongolia and Siberia. If you wish you can participate in the work on the farm, in summer visit the flock on the high summer pastures, learn about medicinal plants which Michèle and Michel both cultivate and gather in the wild and which they transform on site, or help make bread which they bake in the old wood-fired bread oven in the house.
In addition to the gîtes they have 3 bed and breakfast rooms and serve an evening meal, based on organic meat and produce, in a convivial atmosphere around a massive wooden table. Michèle is happy to prepare vegetarian meals on request.
There is a large (70 m2) room available for seminars and meetings (total capacity 19 people).
Horseriders have the possibility of keeping their horses in the meadows.
Le Paquetayre is located 2 km from Montferrier, 8 km from Montségur, 15 km from the ski station at Monts d'Olmes and 25 km from the Montbel Lake. It is also near the Chemin des Bonhommes and the Sentier Cathar, walking circuits linking many Cathar sites.

1 bedroom with double bed, large room with kitchenette, sitting area with woodstove, single bed and convertible sofa, dining area; bathroom and toilet. Terrace faces south with a view of the chateau de Montségur.

gîte Le Grangeon:
Large, open plan, wood-paneled room with kitchenette/bar (sink, 2 burner gas hob, electric oven, fridge); 1 double bed, 2 bunk beds, 1 convertible sofa; bathroom with wc; woodstove, westfacing balcony overlooking meadow.
Rate: 350 €/week; Weekend 110€

WARNING : Le Paquetayre is a mountain farm and our gîtes and B&B will please those who love nature and authenticity. But it is a place full of life where you may encounter spiders, mice, dormice, flies and other insects banished by our so-called developed society. And when it rains, as on all farms there is mud. So we don't recommend this place for anyone obsessed with perfect hygiene, luxurious comfort or complete security. We welcome all those who have remained young at heart and love life.
