The hotel's café/bar is popular with the local inhabitants, who enjoy watching cyclists pass by on their way up to or down from the col de Port (1,250 m), a regular feature of the Tour de France.

The prehistoric caves for which Ariège is famous, as well as the Prehistoric Art Park, are a pleasant 40-minute drive over the col de Port. By the river 100m from the Globe, you can visit an old mill transformed by the hotel's owners into a museum that traces its past as a grain mill, sawmill and electricity generator.

The Massat valley is exceptionally beautiful and unspoiled. Walkers will appreciate the well-maintained walking trails that lace the mountains surrounding the village; at the étang de Lers, a mountain lake 10 minutes from Massat, you can picnic, fish for trout, learn to paraglide or in winter go cross-country skiing.
