La Maison du Cantou (cantou = "little street going downhill" in patois) is a small attached house in the village of Aleu at 800m altitude.
Aleu is a small, peaceful village typical of the Couserans area of Ariège. It faces the mountain chain dominated by the majestic Mont Valier. An assortment of tourism information is at your disposal in the gîte.
There are shops and services in a radius of 10 kms (Oust, Seix or Massat), and the village is also served by the ambulant baker's and butcher's.vans. There are many walks along waymarked paths through the woods surrounding Aleu, and the plateau on the hill called Joubac (1000 m altitude) overlooking the village provides a 360° panoramic view of the mountains.
All the outdoor activities the mountains have to offer are available to you in the vicinity: horseriding, hiking, mountain biking, trout fishing, downhill and cross-country skiing, kayaking, rafting etc.

The house comprises :
Ground floor :
Small living room and kitchen area with fireplace, TV/DVD, sofa, microwave oven, gas stove, fridge and clothes washer.
First floor :
One bedroom with a double bed and old-fashioned wardrobe, bathroom with shower and wc.
Second floor :
A small paneled bedroom with 2 single beds and a dresser.
In front of the entrance is a terrace with garden furniture and barbeque.
This house best suits a couple or a small family as you have to go through the first floor bedroom to reach the one on the second floor.
