La Souleille is a traditional stone house in Aleu, a mountain village of 20 inhabitants situated at 800 m altitude in the Couserans area. Southfacing, its houses stairstepping up the steep slope, Aleu enjoys a micro-climate and is surrounded by a myriad of hamlets perched further up the mountain. The village is visited daily by ambulant merchants : baker, boucher, grocer; doctors' offices and pharmacy are less than 10 kms away. |
| The village is ideal for a relaxing holiday in a mountain setting. There are numerous walking trails that wind through forests and meadows; a few lead to very beautiful sites (Cominac) and into neighboring valleys. Besides the classic mountain activities (fishing, skiing, mountain biking, walking...) you can also go horseriding (4 equestrian centres in the canton), kayaking in Seix, paragliding at the étang de Lers (mountain lake). Donkey hire for family walks is available nearby in Aleu. |
