Above the village of Aleu a narrow paved road followed by an earth and gravel track (suitable for vehicles) leads you to this mountain house nestled on the southern flank of the Tuc de Joubac.
Situated at 1000 m elevation this secluded spot enjoys one of the most beautiful views in the Ariège Pyrenees of the chain around the Mont Valier, the summit dominating the Couserans region. In this isolated site where peace and tranquility reign, you'll feel blissfully removed from the world's strife.
The original barn dating from 1860 was enlarged and extended with a newer structure in 1992, using traditional, local materials: stone, wood and slate. The addition communicates with the original building and the ensemble comprises 140 m2 of living space, accommodating up to 9 persons.The gîte can accommodate up to 10 in the summer.

Two bedrooms have been fitted out in the former barn, one on the ground floor with 2 single beds and a fireplace, the other on the first floor with a double bed, a washbasin and WC in the corner and an electric radiator.
On the first floor is a spacious living room with a fireplace, sofa, a mezzanine with 2 single beds and a second bathroom and WC.
In the extension is a pleasant, many-windowed room that can be used as a meeting room.
The new part comprises: on the ground floor, a dining room (with a woodburning stove in the fireplace), a large kitchen area, and a large bathroom and WC.
Outside there is a table and benches, a barbeque and a swing set for children. Giving out onto the garden is a games room available for both younger and older children.
On the grounds around the gîte you'll see grazing our five donkeys, Cadichon, Penelope, Timour, Ulla and Wanda, who are always happy to see new arrivals. From the gîte by either the track or the little footpath you can climb in a quarter of an hour to the plateau and then the "Tuc de Joubac" from where a you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the surrounding valleys and admire the changeing colours depending on the season.
A wide range of activities is convenient to Hount Juliane : family walks or mountain hikes, downhill or cross-country skiing, horseriding, paragliding, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, walks with donkeys as well as diverse cultural activities depending on the season.
The owners living in a separate house on the site, below the gîte, are always present to provide any information necessary during your stay. Experienced mountaineers, they can advise you, if you wish, on hikes to the peaks that you will be able to contemplate from the gite balcony when you awake in the morning.
Next to the terrace is a little stage for musical performances, plays and sketches.
