The gîtes of Montoulieu are situated 8 km from the medieval intimate city of Foix, the capital of the Ariège, which boasts a magnificent chateau, wonderful cafes, markets and restaurants. La Fount is at 'The Gateway to the Pyrenees' and is a paradise for walkers, painters, writers, thinkers and dreamers.
Montoulieu has stunning views of the Pyrénées and the tower can be seen at a height from the main Foix to Andorra road. Staying in the village is like stepping back in time as the pace of life is very relaxed, and yet access to the shops and all the wonderful activities couldn't be easier. A few kms from the village there is a safe beach and water- skiing by tele-ski on the river Ariège, the numerous caves are close by and Ax-le Thermes for all winter sports is half an hours drive. The list is endless.

Gîte "La Maison" at La Fount sleeps 4-5
La Maison is a beautifully restored traditional stone house, with outstanding views of the Pyrenees and its own entrance, a large private terrace with comfortable garden furniture The house has original stonewalls, wooden beams and authentic furniture..
Ground floor :
The Ground floor of ‘La Maison’ is a very unique space as it is built into the side of the mountain. Here we have created a cool haven to read on a hot summer's afternoon. There is a shower room with washing machine and a separate toilet.
First floor :
Large airy bedroom with beautiful double bed and a large single sleigh bed. This bedroom has a fantastic view to Mount Fourcat at over 2000m and the peaks of the Pyrenees to the south.. There is another window facing east with views of the village tower.
Second floor:
Double bedroom with shower and toilet. This bedroom has exposed stone walls and views to the south and the mountains.
"Gîte La Grange" at La Fount sleeps 2
La Grange is a romantic, renovated, spacious two-storey building with a vivid mountain view. A large private terrace with comfortable garden furniture, and a barbeque. ‘La Grange’ has original stonewalls, wooden beams, authentic furniture and wood burning stove. The space is perfect for couples, special occasions., honeymoons, anniversaries or a haven to unwind.

Ground floor :
Kitchen /dining area with fridge, cooker, microwave, small appliances and a washing machine. The spacious sitting area where the stove is located has a stereo system.
First floor:
Large, bright bedroom with a solid oak bed and seating area. Vaulted ceiling with wooden beams and a spacious en-suite with shower and toilet. Wonderful views to the mountains to the south and a large window facing west for the evening sun.
Evening meals in La Fount's lovely dining room, by arrangement at reasonable rates.
There is a cot available. Also plenty of books and some games
