In this western end of Ariège, the mountains rise up to 2880 m and for nearly a century offered up their mineral wealth (lead and zinc).

The mines now closed, people come here today to partake of other riches: peace and quiet, magnificent views and pure air.

Operating since 1980, at 1000m altitude, the gîte d'étape can accommodate 20 people in 2 dormitories.

With an emphasis on conviviality, we welcome all who come through the mountains, from the "tourist" who has never gazed upon the peaks to the experienced mountaineer.
This large, traditional house is equipped with :
- a large sitting/dining room with kitchen area
- a dormitory sleeping 8 and one sleeping 12
- bathroom and wc

You are free to cook your meals in the kitchen at your disposal or share in a meal prepared by the warden.

The gite is an ideal point of departure for many activities in all seasons. From the easy 1 hour walk to a hike of several days, there is something for all tastes :

- stage of the GR10 transpyreneen trail and the "Tour du Biros"
- summits (Maubermé, Crabère, Mail de Bulard)
- lakes (Etang d'Araing, Montoulieu, Liat)
- loops and circuits (transborder trail, Mont Valier-Etang Long, tour du Pic de l'Har)
- family walks (Cirque de la Plagne, Col de Rous)
- snowshoeing in winter
- sledging
- cross-country skiing on forest trails
- winter ascensions
